Once upon a time…
We were approached by Story District, a DC-based arts organization dedicated to providing unique individuals with the platforms to tell their life stories.
Story District was interested in a new headquarters, as creative and compelling as the programming they present.
At the end of a beautiful garden plaza sits the Capital Jewel, the ultimate treasure they sought.
The Capital Jewel (Spring 2024)
At the end of a long plaza, on the corner of H and 12th, sits the Capital Jewel. The Jewel is the headquarters for Story District, the finest purveyors of world experiences in the city.
The ground level of the Capital Jewel features entrances from the street corner into the main lobby, into a full-service coffee bar, and one direct from the plaza itself.
The second floor of the building is home to the grand theater of stories. Staging and seating housed within a crystalline structure of immense importance and beauty.
The stained glass and ornamentation of the auditorium work in unison with the path of the sun. The regular changes in lighting dramatically alter the interior of the theater, accenting the precious stories with breathtaking scenery.

The impacts of the sun's light are felt throughout the entire building, and are augmented by a well-positioned skylight over the double-height storytelling space.
By night, the Capital Jewel shimmers of the streets of Washington, a beacon of magic, energy and wisdom for the people of this fair city.
